  • Servings: 8-10

Ingredients

  • (1 loaf (about 1 lb)) Day-old French or sourdough bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • (1/2 Cup) Unsalted butter
  • (1) Large onion, chopped
  • (3) Celery stalks, chopped
  • (4) Cloves garlic, minced
  • (1/4 Cup) Fresh parsley, chopped
  • (1 Tablespoon) Fresh sage, chopped
  • (1 Tablespoon) Fresh thyme, chopped
  • (1 Tablespoon) Fresh rosemary, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • (3 Cups) Low-sodium chicken or turkey broth
  • (2) Large eggs, beaten

Directions

  1. Prepare Bread Cubes: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Spread the bread cubes on a baking sheet and toast for 10-15 minutes, until dry and lightly golden. Set aside to cool.
  2. Cook Vegetables: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and celery, and cook for about 10 minutes until soft. Add the garlic, parsley, sage, thyme, and rosemary, and cook for another 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the toasted bread cubes with the sautéed vegetable mixture. Pour in the chicken or turkey broth and mix until the bread is moistened but not soggy. Stir in the beaten eggs to help bind the stuffing.
  4. Bake the Stuffing: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the top is golden and crisp.
  5. Serve: Let the stuffing cool for a few minutes, then serve warm alongside your turkey!
